Since that startling observation, Jim Royston had flown the drone along this route numerous times, each time experiencing weird disruptions in the GPS data, as if the drone temporarily disappeared. Skinwalker Ranch, nestled in Utah’s Uenta Basin, has been the center of odd happenings for hundreds of years. From odd lights in the sky to unsettling animal mutilations, the ranch’s eerie fame is linked with Native American stories, [music] particularly the legend of the skinwalker, a sinister entity from Navajo culture known for its ability to shapeshift. The land has long been home to the Ute tribe, and its closeness to the Navajo has led to stories of ancient curses and tribal disputes. The name Skinwalker comes from the Navajo language, referring to a witch who can turn into animals. It’s said that the Ute people believe the ranch’s land is cursed because of old tribal clashes. These tales [music] have fed into the ranch’s spooky image and added to its strange aura. The contemporary story of Skinwalker Ranch started when Terry and Gwyn Sherman bought the property in 1994. They quickly encountered bizarre occurrences.
The Shermans reported seeing UFOs over their land, hearing voices without a source, and spotting large unidentifiable creatures that seemed unaffected by bullets. There were also regular cattle mutilations with the cattle found bloodless or with surgically precise organ removals. These strange happenings forced the Shermans [music] to sell the ranch by 1996.
