stop need some crow [Music] [Music] [Music] and i’m starting to feel like an actual youtuber i’ve been watching like other youtube videos from other youtubers talking about how to make youtube videos better and they’ve given me a lot of pointers like more lights so now it looks like i’m staring into the sun when i’m talking to you they also said that i should have colorful lights in the background so i picked up a blue light that’s just sitting in the background doing nothing so you guys get bored and want to check that out it’s right there i’ve spent the last month or so talking to jason krupat and an ungodly amount of construction workers trying to figure out what happened from the moment crew pat first talked to a construction worker until the moment the cameras rolled for expedition unknown these people have been quiet for so long we didn’t really know what happened we made our
first video based on number one the episode and number two sort of kind of some stuff that we knew from behind the scenes from working with a couple of the producers and from talking to a couple of the people who were on on set when it got filmed and then we’re sort of let go for various reasons but now after talking to jason and after talking to the the construction crew we have an exact verifiable timeline of what happened between the first time jason spoke to these people and the first time the cameras rolled a lot of times when we’re talking about the secret we’re making educated guesses about something we’re taking a lot of information we’re putting it together and we’re saying this is likely what’s going on this time’s different this time it’s completely different this time we’re only going to talk about things that have been uh
verified to be true stories where at least two different people who were on site told the story the exact same way that’s all we’re going to talk about stuff we can verify the first episode of expedition unknown aired january 17 2018 and jason krupat joined the facebook groups september 4th 2018 and then jason never made a post he never said a word uh and i thought of jason and he said he’s just not really an internet guy like he liked the puzzle he thought it was super super cool but hey he’s just not really an internet guy and that’s true like i’m i’m friends with him on his personal profile you post [ __ ] dude i wish the guy would post occasionally jason wasn’t heard from again until july 9th 2019 when he showed up on a construction site and ran into a guy named neil schwartz neil schwartz is the project manager for the construction crew that
was that was working at land gun park at the time this is where this story gets very very boston very very quickly seems like jason’s kids are figure skaters but not like i like to go on the lake and twirl around like competitive figure skaters jason had spent a while uh looking into this verse and he couldn’t really make anything fit he was sort of going uh the way everybody else was he was looking towards charles gate but he thought to himself like that’s a really crap place to bury a treasure like it’s where homeless people sleep it’s dirty it’s nasty it has no historical significance whatsoever he said immigration seems to play a decent role in these puzzles it’s pointed out a lot in the book so immigration is going to have to have something to do with this and he said if the immigration is italian well duh we’re going to go
to the north end he said what tripped him up was the coliseum he said he found a bunch of parks in the north end where everything’s just sort of kind of fit but he couldn’t make coliseum work at all and then he took his kids to a figure skating meet is that what it’s called is it called a figure skating meet a competition i don’t even know he took his kids to twirl around on some ice and then he realized an ice skating rink could be a coliseum he said he looked up the definition of coliseum and it was a very specific definition and then he started looking for places in boston to fit that definition and he only found four or five there was one at a college and then one across town none of them that seemed to fit except this one skating rink in the north end
he said the skating rink wasn’t far from where he worked and during his lunch breaks he had been jogging around town he had been jogging like five miles a day just to sort of keep keep in shape so he decided to take a different turn and jog down to this park this land gone park and check it out and he said when he got there everything fell into place for him it just made sense he stood on a sidewalk with his back to cops hill terrace staring at three baseball fields with the coliseum over here everything just made sense you have to imagine okay you have to imagine jason has just run several miles he’s sweaty he’s in workout clothes he’s out of breath and he’s sitting there staring at the gates of this construction site and out comes a truck and he did what any of us would
do he flagged that truck down and sitting inside the truck was a guy named neil schwartz he was the project manager that everybody saw on tv and jason had a conversation with him he was like hey this is going to sound super crazy but i think there’s some buried treasure in this park now imagine being neil schwartz you’ve got this out of breath sweaty dude leaning into your truck window talking about some buried treasure on a construction site when you just want to go home but apparently neil’s a a good and and curious dude so he sat there and he talked to jason a little bit and jason was like hey there’s this treasure hunt it’s you may have heard about it it’s been going on for a long time and yada yada here’s what i think and neil said um yeah this this all sounds interesting we’ll totally keep a look out in this park for you
when we’re digging stuff up just shoot me an email give me a little bit more information give me your contact information as well and if we find anything i’ll get back i’ll get back in touch with you so that’s what jason did jason went back to his office and fired off an email and here’s that email jason sent this email off expecting to be you know forgotten about he didn’t expect to hear from these guys again uh but what he did uh was smart he sent out an email that was not crazy it didn’t have any weird leaps of logic it wasn’t long it was short to the point he listed out some lines of the verse and some of the stuff that he thought the lines of the verse represented and and probably most importantly he just admitted when he didn’t know you know there’s there’s parts of this verse he didn’t understand he
had just stumbled on this park and he just said you know i don’t know what this means you know maybe we’ll figure it out later and then jason waited and he waited for months and that’s when the story from our construction team picks up this image is going to be very important to you so take a look at it we’re going to be talking about it quite a bit what this is is a site survey this this tells construction teams uh what’s underground where they’re where they’re going to be working where they need to do boring it tells them elevations it it’s basically a map for the job that they’re about to perform and it’s important that you know what the job they’re about to perform at land gun park is they’re not out there excavating hundreds of thousands of metric tons of dirt to backfill a park they’re
not replacing a lot of dirt they’re not doing huge major renovations for no reason this park is not sloped correctly it’s boring right they got to fix the slope because this park’s not sloped correctly it holds water it makes it very hard for people to play baseball on so what they’re doing is they’re filling in the park a little bit at an angle so that the water when it rains hits the park it flows down into the harbor that’s important because people always assume whenever any construction is going on that big cranes are just going to come in and just dig up all the dirt six feet of dirt and then throw it somewhere and bring in six feet more dirt and that’s not what happens they barely removed any dirt from this park they just kind of leveled it i mean at most six inches six inches of dirt at most was scraped and it was really scraped
from one side and brought up to the other so that the entire park was on a slight angle there was only really one part of this park where they dug more than six inches now this map’s complicated i don’t expect you to know what half of this stuff is hell i don’t know what most of it is there’s only really one line that’s important to you and that’s this one what this line represents is a piece of pvc pipe that’s three feet below the ground and it carried an electrical line the crew that was doing the work knew that this was here they didn’t know if the line was live they didn’t know if it was dead and they weren’t exactly sure where it went it was just left over from the times before they knew they needed to remove it and that’s where they dug with the excavator they dug
down three feet at the start of the line and dug all the way around it until they got to home plate where the excavator felt something a little weird the excavator operator said that he felt something odd and that he he brought up his bucket and there was a piece of plexiglas inside of it now he knew that that was weird because that’s not something you’re going to find you know on a job site and you know the north end of boston you’re not just going to find a sheet of plexiglas so he started digging around and he found the lid for the cask um he was digging around a little bit more in in his the spoils pile and he found the side of the cask and he found a bunch of little pieces and he got them together and he was like i wonder if this is what that guy was talking about um
but it was friday and he wanted to go home so he took those pieces and he put them down on the ground by the gate and went home and he left them there where if anybody had been walking around langone park that weekend they could have looked down on the sidewalk and picked them up and had a cask because we had access to the people who were on site and who were actually there when this cast was brought out of the ground i asked where exactly was it found and i was told it’s super easy because of the job they were doing at the time it’s super easy to tell you exactly where it was found now remember what we were talking about before the job they were doing was was leveling this park they weren’t removing dirt at all um except in a couple of little
places they in fact brought dirt in uh to fill the park up raised it up a couple of feet um they said that they were digging out a very specific thing and the only place they dug around home plate was a hole it’s about a foot wide which ran directly in front of home plate right here so now we know that’s exactly where the cast was found directly in front of home plate now i asked how far down was it and we couldn’t really get an answer out of that i mean it was an excavator bucket full it was towards the top so a foot and a half two feet who knows it wasn’t three feet deep because that’s where the pvc was but that’s exactly where the cask was i feel like it’s important to point out that everything that we know about this situation after jason krupat left his meeting with neil
is coming directly from west construction um i spoke to somebody at west construction who didn’t really want to use their name um and they told this story uh since it’s first hand we can rest pretty well assured that it’s true um i asked like why would you just leave why why why would why would mitch just leave this out in the open like that and i got a response that made a lot of sense like west construction is a construction company we deal with construction things like it just wasn’t a huge deal at the time anyway luckily the the ceo of west construction had to pick up his daughter at the airport that saturday so he was driving through town and he was like you know i haven’t stopped by that boston project in a long time let me stop by and check it out he was walking through the
site when he looked down and he was like huh i don’t know that’s what that guy was looking for so he picked up all the pieces he put them all in his car and he took him back to his office and he spread them out on a little table and that’s where we got the picture of the lid um as people started coming into work they started seeing it neal saw it he reached out to uh he reached out to jason and he was like hey uh is this what you’re looking for and jason’s response was yeah yeah yeah that’s exactly what i’m looking for he ran out of his office hopped in his car drove directly to their headquarters and they gave him his cask now here’s where i think we need to talk a little bit about jason as a person uh jason told the construction company like
he didn’t like the limelight he was like you you guys found this he’s like expedition unknown wants to do a show about it you get a gem like he’s like you guys should take this you get this is yours and the construction crew was like no you got you’ve been looking for this for a while man you this is your this is your fine you take it you go to the show and and jason was like well it at least take the gem as a thank you take take the gem and the construction crew was like no no we don’t we don’t need a gym we’re we’re a construction company like we don’t we don’t want your gem and jason was like no no you you take it take it and the construction company was like no no no we’re not we’re not going to take it you keep your gym and he was like well maybe i’ll just
donate him to a museum and he didn’t think like no museum’s gonna want this so that’s how he he ended up being able to keep his cask in his gem but he tried very very hard to just tell the tell the construction company like you guys you guys found this uh you deserve it and i think that’s it’s admirable that speaks a lot about who jason is as a person um he arranged to go back to to do a little bit more digging he found a couple of other pieces um he said that as soon as he got all of this in his hands he sent an email to uh to josh gates thinking josh gates was gonna get back to him right away but he didn’t waited like a week it was crazy come to find out that the email address josh gates gives to people and says here contacting me about the secret is unmanaged he nobody checks it um
these pictures started floating around on the internet uh and this these rumors started and once the rumors started i emailed john palinkar and i said hey um you know there’s rumors the the cast was found in boston at a baseball field he’s like john responds i don’t even think there’s a casket in boston and i was like well i got some pictures and when i sent him the pictures he was like can i contact josh gates and here we go then i sent an email to somebody at expedition unknown and they responded they didn’t know what we were talking about either they were hunting pirates in africa which actually turned out to be true i don’t know josh finally checked his email saw a picture of a cask and this happened there’s breaking news on a story that we’ve been following and it’s an update
so big that i’m literally walking away from my current expedition so that i can fly straight there follow this developing story on expedition unknown next wednesday at 9 on discovery this part of the story comes directly from someone who works for expedition unknown they didn’t have a lot of time to make this episode and when they started they didn’t have much of an episode to make they wanted to make this their season finale because it had been so big during the current season it was it was a nice wrap up to their season you know they had started out in san francisco they didn’t find anything and holy [ __ ] something’s found in boston they hired someone to produce the episode who’s known for getting [ __ ] done and getting [ __ ] done quickly if you want to make some random obscure [ __ ] in the middle of uganda and you’ve only
got 24 hours to do it you hired this person uh and she came on and she did a brilliant job she put together a great episode they were left with some choices though they were left with a lot of stuff that jason didn’t understand and they needed to put together pretty quickly or jason thoroughly understood but the clues weren’t there because either the construction or because they had been painted here’s a perfect example of that all right so the next clue is a green tower of lights in the middle section what do you think the green tower of lights is so josh if you look across the harbor here you’ll see the famous titan bridge the tobin bridge they couldn’t use some of jason’s ideas because the clues weren’t around anymore they couldn’t say the green tower of lights is this green literal tower of lights in the middle section
of the ball field right in front of your face plain as day because the construction crew had already taken the the light posts out so they made something up on the spot they said it was this bridge this random bridge for no reason is apparently a green tower of lights it didn’t matter so much that they were misleading people about how the puzzle worked what mattered was making good tv because they’re a tv show and that’s what they do that’s what they’re focused on not necessarily getting the minute details of this 40 year old puzzle correctly they care about telling a good story and if we’re being honest this episode told a good story it just misled some people not not all of this was expedition unknown’s fault they ran into some trouble that they weren’t expecting you see they thought they were going to fly into boston and come up with a
new episode take a couple of days at most to film one day in uh in langham park and then the next day they were going to go to brooklyn and they were going to film all of that and easy peasy they’d make a great episode but they they hit some pushback you know i talked to my friend at expedition unknown who said that they had some footage of what they were up against on scene and it’s kind of crazy like i wasn’t there but i was on the phone with some of the people who were outside of the gates and from what the production crew said like they were screaming throughout filming now you get you got to think like expedition unknown they shut down an entire construction crew for this this is this west construction is losing tens of thousands of dollars every day that this site’s shut down um and expedition i don’t just shut it down to film
they have a very very small amount of time to film and people were standing 20 feet away from them yelling about like how this is their town and they pay taxes and this is their park and you shouldn’t keep them out of the park just to film an episode and one guy was trying to sell his entire broad theory about how the whole puzzle works to expedition unknown it’s like dude it was crazy now this is what expedition unknown was up against expedition unknown sent a film crew outside of the gate to these people and filmed them just to get them to stop yelling at least that’s what the producer told me now the truth is probably somewhere in the middle of those two things i don’t know um and i don’t really want to know at this point like i i’d rather believe my friends but you know
it’s part of the story that needs to be told john palincar told me this part of the story he said that he was talking to josh gates they decided to do the episode they flew him up to brooklyn and he said he had a really nice time they put him up in a hotel uh the exact same hotel that they put everybody in see like brian and andy they’re really respectful people they said nothing to any of us like we’re in private chats we talk every you know a couple of days they said nothing they were they just went radio silent um but we knew something was going on it’s like brian and andy aren’t talking anymore and then rob uh posted a picture first rob posted a picture of him on an airplane we’re like rob rob doesn’t get on airplanes what’s going on like two hours later he posted a picture of him having breakfast
with eric gasterowski like oh now we know what’s going on um brian and andy they were radio silent uh john said that when they flew him up they put him in a hotel and he stayed in the same hotel as as brian and andy and and and rob and eric and he was like nobody knew he was like they kept us apart uh john was like if i’d known they were there we would have hung out the whole weekend but i had no idea um they trekked them all in the same same limo up to the the filming area um john was kept sort of cordoned off from jason jason had no idea that everybody else was going to be there it was all a surprise to him they kept that a surprise because they wanted his his actual reaction um when john walked out john said that he hadn’t seen sandy and the kids in
forever he hadn’t even talked to him he was he he teared up quite a bit when he saw him um they said it was sort of magical for him just for for that to continue um he said it was a nice little end to the boston story uh joellen trilling said that she was she was very pleased to know that for 40 years children had been playing on top of her art she said that was uh that was a nice thought the rest of the episode went pretty smoothly i mean you saw how it went uh sandy was very pleased the the girls cried it ended on a nice note what happened next for jason was a little crazy now you have to remember what we were saying before jason’s not a limelight guy he doesn’t post on facebook he never posted on the groups he never posted anywhere um and he still doesn’t he still
doesn’t post on facebook i think like the only thing i’ve ever seen him post that’s not hey i was in the news for the secret thing was like he made a couple of political cartoons he said he was going to make these like this like twitter series of political cartoons and he posted two of them and i was like these are funny as [ __ ] i can’t wait for these to continue and then they just never did um he’s not a limelight guy he didn’t at first necessarily want to do like the whole big thing he would get kept trying to give the construction crew the cask he was like you guys take it you guys take the gem um i mean just look at how pleased he looks to be in this interview that’s where jason here comes in i got an email a few weeks ago from jason who is uh also lives
in boston and said that he believed that he had cracked the code of the third treasure box so i jumped on a plane and went to boston to meet him it’s it’s obvious it’s obvious this man loves his family and this man loves this treasure hunt and this man’s proud of what he’s done but this man he does not want to be on tv he doesn’t want the limelight and people keep trying to give it to him myself included i don’t know how many times i bugged this dude for an interview maybe he’ll give us one now who knows maybe he’ll stand there hating all of us while we force them to be on stream um crazy shits happen to him man like i i think the community understands that there are some overly passionate people out there um there’s a like there’s some there’s some wackos
like there’s a lady who’s like trying to track down byron price’s kids so she could give her she should get like give the kids something she found in the woods so that she can claim the gem that brian and nandy stole from byron like that’s a legit thing people have tracked down jason um and it’s gotten kind of scary for him sometimes uh i think i just wants to be left alone so leave him alone he he found a cask um i did a good job leave him alone don’t i mean like jason’s found the dark side of the secret the same side that the john palin cars found and people showing up to john palingar’s house same side that brian and andy’s found were like they can’t go to work without somebody trying to bother them about some weird solve don’t don’t be those people those those people can get scary sometimes
and it’s probably one of the reasons that that jason would just rather sit back and say this is solved now it’s my job’s done this episode took a long time to make uh it was hard interviewing construction workers and producers and jason and then getting it all approved and it was nuts um but i wanted it to be as as as concise and as informative as possible because of the negative sort of opinion people have of the boston solution the way it was found the way it was presented and really jason as a person a lot of that comes from having these questions unanswered for so long not knowing exactly what happened like knowing that expedition unknown fabricated a lot of this story and nobody really saying which parts were fabricated um that i mean that that alone led to people being like the whole thing is fake
