damp but undeterred we weighed into the stream now do we have any specifics about the cave itself what it looks like we just know that it was a really large opening okay the cavern itself is supposed to be big enough to ride horses into and several men be able to spend the night as a Hideway to get away from the the law okay so it’s not going to be some small discreet thing no it’s got to be big enough to horses would go into right what about the carvings he mentioned earlier supposed to be uh a boulder out in front of the cave and it’s got someone’s carved a hand print and a a horseshoe a Sunburst well that’s at least super specific it is find that we know we’re in the spot we’re going to know it when we see it for sure as the rain continues to fall we Trek through the creek keeping our eyes peeled but they don’t need to stay peeled for long oh what’s that look at that that is a cave that is definitely a cave that has to be what we’re looking for oh my God this fits the description to a team the cave appears to fit the bill but is it the Reno gang’s Hideout that remains to be seen But what I can tell you right now is that this is awesome if this is it then there should be symbols here right in the Rocks should be a boulder with symbols and there should be gold and silver buried somewhere near the entrance outside or inside that we don’t know okay we got to search everywhere we begin to metal detect while continuing to search for the mysterious symbols that are said to Adorn the Reno gang’s cave Josh Josh what do you got oh man I got carvings what rock carvings get out of here oh my god look look that’s a horseshoe that is a horseshoe and I got a hand that is a handprint deep in the Wilds of Indiana I’m searching for a remote cave that was reportedly used as a hideout for the legendary train robbing Reno gang and these markings may have just sealed the deal no way Troy this is real this is actually here these are initials these are initials that is an S for sure could be Simeon oh yes right Simeon Reno remember the Reno gang and that’s an M or a w that could be a w w could be William William Reno another brother that’s the look at that Circle in the middle and Rays coming out of it it’s a perfect representation this is actually here I don’t want to sound rude but I assumed this Legend was yeah this story of these carvings outside of this cave that part of it is true this is real I love it when a legend comes to life amen [Music] Wow Let’s look around on these slopes next to the cave this area looks pretty undisturbed I think it’d be a lot easier to bury something here in the dirt than it would down in the gravels of the cave and less chance of it getting swept away good point yep let’s look around so we move up to Josh you nailed an old coin are you kidding me named for the seated image of Liberty on its face a Seated dime from the Reno era is a huge deal it’s potentially valuable from a collectible standpoint but more importantly it puts a firm date on when people were using this area dude this is literally buried silver you know the legend said they buried silver and gold near the mouth of the cave you found silver near the mouth of the cave um literally speechless and this was right next to that bullet mold handle that’s right I mean a foot away that’s a great coin any day of the year wow as is gorgeous it’s beautiful Buri treasure check we continue to search for signs of a shipwreck suddenly mindful of Bridget’s suggestion to search carefully do not put your hand that first my God backing vessels and resting beside them Bridget what do you make of these Stones they don’t look like they belong here they look different these may be B Stones Josh this is good this may be the evidence that we are dealing with a shipwreck ballast Stones were once used to steady the holes of ships weighing them down in the water so they wouldn’t tip over if this ship was made of wood it’s possible these is there anything on the floor I mean rocks and it looks like untouched dirt it’s like the surface of the Moon like no one’s walked there in a 100 years or more okay this is amazing you don’t happen to see any inscriptions in there do you I can’t see that far back particularly Mone not yet but according to the newspaper article it should be this direction right it should be in this side well we got to get in there we got to get in there I mean now we got to move some serious Rock a l of rock I mean just the one you’re sitting on here feels like it’s going to be a chore and where’s this stuff cave mentioned in an 1859 letter that’s supposed to contain an inscription from the notorious D gang this really matches the description of the cave it matches it perfectly I mean this chamber is supposed to have it’s like a roof where two rocks meet and make a peak and then it tapers into a smaller point where it just dies off that’s insane look at these initials so j a w y and then over here J A and lore up here yeah look at this J R and then it looks like a diamond with a little Diamond what does that mean and more here oh my God it’s w i mean it’s everywhere and then there’s more down there more down there so somewhere in this chamber supposedly is the inscription Mone yeah so the article by Joseph fell right says that the the inscription that says Mone should be where in this direction right in this chamber he says it’s on the Southeast wall right and it’s how far in it’s as far as a man can reach and 9 ft up from the bottom I mean that should be somewhere around here right we searched the back of the chamber for Don’s initials hoping that the elements haven’t worn them away oh I got an M I got an M right here yeah oh my God that is an M for sure and then some sort of faded initial next to it but I can’t tell if that used to be a d or if this is something else part of a g I don’t know but it looks like there might have been something under it at one point as well oh my gosh I mean could that have said 1775 right there that would be amazing what do you think M for Moses it is the only M we’ve seen in this cave maybe that’s all this left is the m maybe maybe I’ll tell you what I’ll take it it can no longer be denied this is the right place the writing is literally on the wall I can’t believe this is here Clint I don’t want to say that I doubted you I totally doubted you I’m sorry I have to say it I mean I knew that you had found a cave I knew that it was historic obviously we were finding artifacts but the idea that it was this cave from the article and that it hadn’t been destroyed I mean it seems impossible it seems completely impossible for us to be here in this place in this moment looking at all of these initials I’ve spent my whole life trying to be right here you made it I did it this is one of the best days of my life oh man I’m so happy I could be here to see it I’m glad you’re here too this is incredible [Music]
