The Curse Of Oak Island THE SHINING 13x14 NO CAP RECAP #moneypit #swamp #lot8 #history

Hello everybody. Video here for you today. And as of February 3rd, it’s still colder in Columbus, Ohio than it is on Oak Island.
This is the new capab recap of The Curse of Oak Island, season 13, episode 14, called The Shining, originally aired February 3rd, 2026. If you missed any of my recaps of previous episodes, there’s a link to my Ogalian playlist in the upper right. Let’s get into it.
Previously on the curse of Oak Island, people have been looking for an incredible treasure for at least 231 years.
The episode title is that of the Stanley Kubri directed Jack Nicholson starring horror film released in 1980.
Vanessa from Rock Equipment and Adam from SB Canada join Rick Marty and other members of the team in the war room.
Marty says they are sure at this point that they want to put some canisters down and they want to go to 230 ft into the solution channel maybe that depth for all of the quesons.
The belief is that due to all of the digging and collapses that the once higher up treasure has fallen into the solution channel.
Whereas the team has previously used an oscillator to grind quesons into the earth and then drop a hammer grab as a retrieval device.
In season 13, they will be using an 8 foot augur for drilling and a dig bucket for recovery.
On lot eight, Dr. Spooner arrives to inspect the boulder feature. The team has removed some big rocks, but want to get his opinion before they excavate further. Peter says he thinks there is previously disturbed soil under the rocks that they moved.
Dr. Spooner takes a core sample but also uses a smaller coreer for another. Fiona notices that it is very loose soil.
Dr. Spooner will try to determine the age of the structure and will also test the soils for precious metal content.
50 yards to the south on LA. Billy has plowed this area to make it easier to metal detect. Gary brings Marty as a digger.
Previous lot eight metal finds this season have been part of a chain that could date back to the 1500s and the lead bag seal detected by Gary’s daughter Katchcha that could date back to the 1300s.
The first find today is this iron multi-tool from the 1700s according to Gary and he says that one of the uses would be to skin animals.
The next find is a pentle part of a door or gate hinge. Earlier this season, a similar artifact was found on lot 15 northwest of the money pit area.
In the northern part of the triangle-shaped swamp, Rick Tom and other members of the team are continuing to follow the Cabbell’s path.
They think that the path found higher could be an extension of the lower path that led to the discovery of a slate and brick vault that was empty.
It also seems to be turning towards the west which would include lot eight and its boulder feature and lot five and the structures found there.
Gary detects the spoils already dumped and gets a quote banging it.
He points out that this section of spoils is darker, which would make fines older.
The transition shot to commercial shows the area they are working in.
After the commercial break, we find out that Gary has found a really old piece of hand forged iron. He points out the striations and says it reminds him of the part of a pickaxe brought up from the totes the previous season in spoils from 160 ft underground.
Dr. Spooner delivers a soil sample report via video conferencing. He says that lead is found as 12 parts per million elsewhere but the soil under the boulder contain 140 parts per million.
He further says that it could be from burning or smelting activity.
Marty says that burning was used to ventilate tunnels. So maybe there is a shaft to a tunnel under the boulder. Dr.
Spooner says it’s a good point. Narrator Robert Clotworthy explains that as far back as ancient Greece, miners would set fires at the base of shafts to force smoke up and out while also pulling fresh air into another shaft.
Lar says they still have excavating to do, but the team will be able to lift the boulder soon.
In the northern part of the swamp, Garrett continues metal detecting spoils and finds this artifact he says is lead and could be a weight.
After the next bucket of spoils is dumped, Gary sees part of either the top or bottom of a keg barrel. The team has found several others over the course of the show. Not just for alcohol, they were used for transporting many things, including treasure.
Rick is raking spoils and spots another piece of a cake barrel.
Back on lot eight, Rick, Marty, and other members of the team join the archaeologists at the boulder because Fiona has done a lot of excavation and it’s time to put the camera in again.
Marty says there are a lot of voids under the tunnel. This is about two feet down according to Fiona.
Going deeper, she sees something that looks like gold.
Marty says if it is, the boulder on lot 8 is the most substantial thing that’s ever happened on the island. Alex asks if anyone knows why gold would be under a boulder here, and Marty responds that somebody wanted to hide it.
Lar says they have done everything they can do without lifting the boulder. In the outro, Mr. Clotworthy reminds us that as far as they know, no one has ever searched at the Boulder location.
There’s no episode on February 10th as the show takes a week off. I’ll try to have a looks back in ahead episode andor an Oak Island deep dive with Zigg if our schedules line up.
February 17th, we’ll not see a new regular episode either, but instead there will be a new Drilling Down episode called Ground Zero.
I will be recapping that episode. The synopsis. Rick and Marty Lagginina and their team are discovering compelling new clues to suggest Oak Island may hold sacred treasures that were deposited between the 12th and 18th centuries by members of the Knights Templar and their descendants.
And next time on an allnew The Curse of Oak Island, season 13, episode 15, called Swamped, airing February 24th, 2026.
As stunning events unfold around the team’s dig operation in the Money Pit area, they make a potentially historic discovery in the swamp.
Recaps of all of the aired shows from every season are in my Oak Island playlist. I will be recapping new episodes as they air from now through May 2026. That playlist is linked at the end of this video on the screen now or very soon. I’ll also be putting out retro recaps of The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch seasons two through four. Seasons one, five, six, and the first five episodes of season two are already done and are in the Skinw Walker Ranch playlist. I’ll especially try to get one out uh this coming week because there’s no island episode.
Thanks so much for watching. Please subscribe, like, and comment. Simply, and stay warm, everybody.
