deep in the wilderness of West Virginia the Monstrous trans alagan Lunatic Asylum stands abandoned a horrifying reminder of the evils of early American Medicine construction begins in 1858 but as the Civil War inflames America the asylum’s construction cools to a halt the building’s half formed hus is battled over by Union and Confederate [Music] forces when the dust settles the vast Gothic Asylum begins admitting patients in 1864 to this day it is one of the largest handcut stone buildings in North America but by the 1950s a place of healing and hope becomes one of horror due to its controversial and often deadly treatments electroshock therapy hydrotherapy insulin induced Comas and labotomy Dr Walter Freeman armed with nothing more than an ice pick and a hammer makes trans alagan his home the patients themselves also become more Sinister as trans alagan begins admitting criminally insane murderers in 1994 the facility shuts its
