Hello everybody. Video here for you today. This is the new cap recap of The Curse of Oak Island season 13 episode 17 called The Missing Links. Originally aired March 10th, 2026. If you missed any of my recaps of previous episodes, there’s a link to my Oak Island playlist in the upper right. Let’s get into it.
you previously on the curse of Oak Island. People have been looking for an incredible treasure for at least 231 years.
On lot 8, Rick arrives to check progress on the investigation of the hole below the 40,000 lb boulder that got moved on the last episode. Fiona says these stacked rocks are only on the right side and that she wouldn’t be surprised if the right side was the only side holding up the boulder.
The next step is to remove this layer to see what is underneath it. Also says she thinks that this structure was built before the 1700s. She later says that there is no similar structure in Nova Scotia.
She uncovers this flat flagstone looking rock in the floor of the structure and points out the contrast with the smaller rocks in the sidewall.
There were several flag stone rocks on one side of the boulder, much closer to ground level. Fiona says once she clears it out, Dr. Spooner should revisit the feature because he may have more insight.
In the money pit area, they’re down to 150 ft in Quesan location Karma 1.
The augur that is being used this year is progressing much faster than the oscillator does. Another 10 ft will get them to the Bedrock Plateau that’s above the solution channel.
At the wash plant 500 ft to the east near Smith’s Cove, new addition this year, Bailey Green spots this piece of chain in the Karma One spoils.
Charles takes it to the money pit area to show the members of the team there.
Jack thinks it’s older due to the links not being the same size. So would be a hand rot item, which will be 1850s and earlier. And Jack will take that to the lab for analysis.
In Karma one, the augur that is designed to chew through bedrock has hit something that it’s having a hard time getting through. They switch out the augur for the recovery bucket.
Gary detects a small piece of sheet metal and then Terry finds this much bigger piece. They suspect that they are part of a shoe, which is a brace that was something put on the bottom of a shaft is perhaps from the 160 ft chapel shaft dug in 1931 as an attempt to recover the previously drilled into chapel vault.
Terry says, “This piece of rock is gypsum and is part of the bedrock plateau above the solution channel shown in this artist’s rendering. It will take the rest of the day and perhaps some of the next morning to get to the bottom of the solution channel. They are making progress though down to 171 ft now, but it is slower going.
At cone D of Nolan’s Cross, Tom and other members of the team are executing the plan put together in the last episode after Professor Gaspani matched up the lines the swamp stakes are on with the ones from Nolan’s Cross in those same star positions in the early 1200s AD.
They will be searching the line between the cone D and the headstone.
Katchcha notices these rocks and says this one looks split. Tom says it doesn’t look like something natural.
He also points out that it is perfectly in line with the cross.
Tom calls Rick to come take a look. Rick suggests that they dig a little around it.
After a small layer is removed, Tom says the coloration is completely different here.
The soil and rocks here are more gray looking. And Rick says it looks kind of like the blue clay previously found deep in the money pit area in the 1800s and within the past few years found to be a 99% match to clay found in the lot 5 structure. They get samples to take to Emma in the lab to see if it’s yet another match.
Tom instructs Al in the excavator to do a side profile of that area and Tom spots this stake. It makes sense that the line would be marked with stakes because the stakes are what prompted this investigation of the cross lines.
The steak is estimated to be 25 yards northeast of cone D. On the way to the headstone, Dr. Spooner arrives on lot 8 and agrees with Fiona’s thoughts that the rocks didn’t end up there naturally and explains that the proof is the organic matter all around the rocks. Dr. Spoon says the boulder was there to either mark something or to protect something.
Rick visits lot 8 the next day. Lar says the structure was built by a group that had plenty of manpower to accomplish it.
He thinks it’s European. Fiona agrees and says that it could be changing Nova Scotian history. Later le explains that the indigenous people did not have the technology nor the intimate knowledge of physics and geometry that would be needed.
and they would not bother to move such a big boulder.
Rick video calls Marty who says it looks like the stone road in the swamp.
You can almost always count on a sidebyside shot on the show when a comparison is made verbally. Marty later repeats what he has often said that since there’s no mention of the Late Boulder formation in the historical record or searcher reports, it’s possible that it hasn’t been touched since the original building of it. Marty says it’s the only thing on Oak Island that all of the experts seem to agree on and confirms with Fiona that no artifacts have been found, which would suggest that they were really careful about there not being any or they didn’t really have anything to lose.
Marty says as soon as the archaeological process is done, he wants to dig deep into it.
In the money pit area, the Karma 1 quesan is down to 181 ft and the spoils contain this piece of pipe. Rick says that Dan blanket chip used 6in pipe, so the smaller one is likely older.
Terry finds a larger piece of it and says that the thread doesn’t look finely machined, so could be another reason it would be older.
at the wash plant. Another new addition this year. Aaron Barkhouse, presumably related to Charles, also finds this piece of chain in deeper spoils. Steve calls Gary to come take a look. Gary says he has found similar looking chain in Europe that was 1700s to 1600s, but he’s hoping this is older than that even.
This one too is hand brought. Each link was made individually. Gary also points out that the link on the end being much bigger.
So he thinks it’s a securing chain. It’s the type of chain that might have been around a treasure chest.
Back in the money pit area, the dig is down to 212 ft. Now the deepest dig on Oak Island that has been documented.
The augur begins going very slowly again. This be Canada representatives think that they are on the solution channel floor. So the plan is to pull up the queson so that the spoils in it will fall out and they can recover them in the morning with the bucket.
Next time on an all new The Curse of Oak Island airing March 17th, 2026, season 13, episode 18 called Breaking the Seal.
After raising the 40,000 lb boulder from lot 8, the team is astonished to find a man-made feature that may be hiding a shaft or tunnel.
And on March 24th, 2026, season 13, episode 19, is called Axis of Medieval.
