American Pickers star Mike Wolfe, who has been on the show for almost 20 years, recently talked about a death in his family.
This time, he’s talking about the passing of his grandfather, while also reflecting on the passing of his buddy and co-host, Frank Fritz.
On Memorial Day, Wolfe paid tribute to his grandfather on Instagram, discussing both his missed relationship with him and the sacrifice he made for his nation.
To inform American Pickers followers about his latest ventures, side projects, and life transitions, Wolfe shares updates on Instagram on a regular basis.
This time, however, he shared a black and white picture of his grandfather, along with the following caption:
“My grandfather, Rhysa Fillmore Boore, lost his life aboard the USS Evans on May 11th, 1945, while serving our country.”
He continued to remind followers of the reasons behind the US Memorial Day holiday by adding:
“Today, we honor the brave men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom.”
In the end, Wolfe said that he was happy to be related to his grandfather, Rhysa, even if he never got the opportunity to meet him.
Supporters responded by expressing their admiration for Wolfe and appreciation for those who toil and give up for the nation’s security.
Many commenters said they saw Wolfe in his grandfather’s face.
Many people with family members serving in the military have similar stories to him.
Wolfe therefore used the opportunity to remind followers of the sacrifices made by several persons while performing their duties.
Wolfe obviously cares about his family.
So it is not surprising that he is posting about his grandfather.
Since they were young children, the brothers have been searching for unique treasures.
And Robbie Wolfe, the younger brother, has been a part of American Pickers for many years.
On American Pickers, both brothers have now turned antique hunting into a family business.
The public can purchase items from Mike and Robbie’s stores in Iowa, many of which are highlighted on American Pickers.
Wolfe always treated Fritz like a brother, despite the fact that they were not related.
According to Wolfe, he was present when Fritz passed away, and American Pickers season 27 will honor the late co-host.
Wolfe, who continues to stay in touch with Fritz’s family, talked about how his sadness helped him move on by doing projects that remember Fritz and spending time with the people that matter most.
The name of Wolfe’s temporary residence, which showcases his vintage finds, is Two Lane’s Guest House.
The initiative is a tribute to Fritz and Wolfe’s first joint media endeavor, Two-Lane Adventures, which served as the model for American Pickers and numerous other businesses and vintage shops.
Additionally, Fritz’s hometown in Iowa held a tribute gathering during tribute weekend.
Fritz’s pals held a bar in honor of the Davenport native to celebrate his life.
After being delayed because of a court dispute over Fritz’s will that was started by his estranged father, Frank Fritz’s man cave finally debuted during Memorial weekend.
Nonetheless, Fritz’s friends and family were able to pay tribute to him in the way he would have desired.
It’s unknown if Wolfe was present during the live celebration.
Mike Wolfe, the affable antiques hunter beloved by millions on American Pickers, is opening up in a way few fans expected.
Behind the fun of road trips, barn finds, and vintage treasures, he’s been carrying a weight, a deeply personal loss that’s reshaped how he views life, friendships, and time itself.
As 2024 drew to a close, Wolfe shared a revealing Instagram post that caught many by surprise.
The star admitted he had endured a year filled with loss and some heartache.
But that’s not all.
He also spoke of moments that restored his spirit: his daughter, family, and creative projects.
Turning 60, Wolfe said, has brought him to a place of peace.
He confessed that this milestone forced him to confront what matters most.
His social circle has gotten much smaller, he said, and he’s made a conscious decision to be present with the people he loves.
The revelation that triggered Wolfe’s emotional reflection is the death of his longtime friend and American Pickers co-star Frank Fritz.
Fritz passed away on September 30th, 2024, at the age of 60, due to stroke-related complications.
Wolfe didn’t just lose a business partner or TV co-star.
He lost someone he called a brother.
Their bond roots go deep.
Decades of picking, road trips, arguments, reconciliations, and shared passions.
Wolfe has since revealed intimate details of Fritz’s final days.
How Fritz struggled with opioid addiction after a back surgery during the pandemic.
How things deteriorated.
And yet, how Wolfe never gave up.
One of the most surprising and emotional parts of Wolfe’s revelation is how he was with Fritz in his final moments.
