During the holidays, when Oak Island researchers, the Lega brothers, along with metal detector experts and excavators, stayed back to find more evidence of a possible sunken ship in the swamp, they were not prepared for what they were going to find.

While excavating, the brothers and their team came across an ancient structure on the southeastern side of the swamp. What was this bizarre structure underneath the swamp? Could this structure prove Fred Nolan’s theory? Join us as we unveil the mysterious centuries-old structure found underneath the swamp in The Curse of Oak Island.

A strange wall underneath the swamp.

Oak Island has been a busy place over the years with many archaeological activities going on. Several excavators over the years have tampered with the lands in a bid to find clues, hinting at proving the myth that there was a possible treasure chest buried under Oak Island as far back as the 18th century.

However, none of them have come close to finding a treasure chest or land brewing treasures. But the mystery of Oak Island remains undeniable. There is something about that place that needed to be found. If only the researchers could get an exact location.

The latest group of excavators is the Lega brothers, Rick and Marty Lagina, who bought a good portion of Oak Island, hoping to dig up ancient treasures to prove old stories. Past excavators have found artifacts and other significant materials that could be deemed strange underneath the island. The Lega brothers have made some major discoveries of their own. These discoveries suggest ancient activities in various portions of the island.

However, the brothers and their team were about to hit something very interesting. While they had found some noteworthy artifacts across various portions of Oak Island, they were looking for something else—something to prove an ancient story that would blow our minds. They needed a real clue to hint at Fred Nolan’s theory possibility or the sunken ship theory.

Just another day on Oak Island.

Rick Lagina, Gary Drayton, and Billy Gerhardt were searching for clues at the southern border of the strange triangle-shaped swamp. They had come there before to look for hints to any theory, and they had found some things. Ordinarily, they would wrap up and go home to their families, but something interesting kept them.

Rick, Gary, and Billy had found some wood underground in a previous stint at the swamp. They suspected that there was more to it than just a piece of old wood. You may ask why, since it was just a piece of wood that could be found anywhere. Still, this was different. They were not just feigning excitement and zeal from a piece of wood that could be gotten anywhere.

It was the type of wood and the shape in which they found it. The wood had a strange curved shape like the wood used to build boats in ancient communities. Drayton suspected that the piece of wood might have come off a ship at that time. So they decided to check back. A piece of old wood could mean something bigger. Could there be a sunken ship full of treasure somewhere underneath the swamp?

These men were hyped. They were ready for another groundbreaking discovery. If there was a possibility that they would find anything underneath the swamp, they were ready to dig.

Before then, metal detector expert Gary Drayton had found certain artifacts in a portion of the island, leading them to suggest that Oak Island might have been a temporary housing to travelers. Drayton’s findings suggested a possible encampment in a portion of the island, probably from businessmen coming from Spain or going to Spain. The metal detector expert had previously found some coins dating back to the 18th century along with a part of a pistol with an inscription.

So, if there were encampments, could it be that these travelers had ships on Oak Island? If they did, where are the ships? These questions are the reasons for these excavations, and the Lagina brothers were on to something. They were determined not to give up like past excavators, no matter the situation.

Before finding the wood, the Lega brothers and their team had noticed three monumental stones on the island, and they were intrigued. What did the stones mean? Maybe there was a connection between the stones and where the wood came from.

However, before we delve into the mysterious findings beneath the swamp, let’s throw a little light on the sunken-ship theory that has been a constant feature in myths about Oak Island…
