‘American Pickers’ Danielle Colby Sends Direct Message to Mike Wolfe’s Political Past
American Pickers star Danielle Colby sent a direct message to her co-star, Mike Wolfe, after he posted about his unexpected political past.
On Sunday, Jan. 4, Wolfe, 61, took to Instagram with an old newspaper ad during his campaign for city councilman in LeClaire, Iowa.
“Going thru photos from @visitleclaire Iowa, and I came across this BLAST FROM THE PAST,” the history fanatic began his update. “I’ve loved this little town forever, but 23 years ago, I decided to get involved. It was the first time I truly ever felt a sense of community. The first time I would publicly speak or restore an old building. The fire department, the tourism board, the shopkeepers group, I couldn’t get enough of it, and I still feel that way today.”
In the featured image, the ad encouraged readers to vote on Nov. 4, 2003, for “LeClaire Volunteer Firefighter Michael Wolfe” for city council. The slogans, “Preserving LeClaire’s past” and “Working to make LeClaire the best it can be!” accompanied a photo of a much younger Wolfe.”
“Looking back now, I wonder where the energy came from and how I had the time,” the American Pickers star continued. “Then I think about the people that lifted me up, guided me, and showed me the way. Gordy Pelo, Pat Pelo, Faye, Ritchie, Joe, Deb, Greg, Vern, Trudy, and Chuck…almost all gone now, but not from my memory. Now, when I walk down Main Street, I still feel my mentors. I was blessed to have them in my life.”
To conclude his update, Wolfe shared, “I’m posting this to encourage others that having a place at the table doesn’t just mean being one of the decision makers, it’s so much more than that. It’s about setting the table for the next generation, asking yourself what feeds your soul, and what dreams do you have that keep you up at night? The historical lens we all have inside of us sometimes just needs some encouragement to be focused.”
In the comments, Colby, 50, issued a cheeky response, writing, “Aw, I remember this baby face.”
One Instagram user admitted, “Never knew you were a politician! 😂👏🙌❤️ Love you, friend!”
Another pointed out, “You have always played a part in your community, doing what was best for the town. Well said and always job well done.”
Someone else declared, “I would definitely have voted for you!”
A different follower commented, “Mike, you were a young stud back in the day 🔥💯👍.”
Meanwhile, yet another Instagram user shared, “Local government is where s*** actually gets done! Love this 🤘🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼.”
Although Colby recently claimed American Pickers was “done,” Wolfe set the record straight about the fate of the series while promoting his new History Channel show, History’s Greatest Picks With Mike Wolfe.
