Kate Chastain Shares an “Exciting” Update on Her Son, Sullivan Cay: “We’re Coming Up…” (EXCLUSIVE) | Below Deck Med
Kate Chastain is approaching another milestone in her first-time mom journey. The Below Deck alum shared the update during BravoCon 2025, revealing what was next for her 2-year-old son, Sullivan Cay.
Kate Chastain offers a glimpse at Sullivan’s amusing “milestone”
Although the toddler years are known to be hectic, Kate said she also found the stage to be “so cute,” as her boy was becoming increasingly opinionated and vocal, just like his mom.
“They’re finally starting to share their little thoughts, which I was excited about,” she added. “And parents with older children are like, hmm, because they share a lot of thoughts.”
Kate offered a glimpse at Sullivan’s playful personality in a December 1 Instagram Story filmed outside their “historic” Florida home. The clip showed the toddler sitting in his toy car with paint on his face and a paintbrush in his hand.
“Hey, look at me,” Kate said from behind the camera. “Were you painting? You think you’re being funny?”
Sullivan didn’t give much of a response. He simply looked up at his mom and giggled.
“‘Finds humor in defiance’ milestone,” Kate captioned the clip.
Kate Chastain opens up about single parenthood
Kate welcomed Sullivan in May 2023 and has been “raising him “solo” ever since. Months before welcoming baby No. 1, Kate opened up about her pregnancy journey and her expectations for motherhood. She told Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea she was looking forward to being a single parent because she didn’t want to compromise her preferred methods of child-rearing.
“I’m fiercely independent,” she said. “I don’t really love people’s opinions being different than mine, and trying to make me go their way. So I really am so excited that I’ll be able to do this exactly how I want to.”
Is Kate Chastain back in the dating scene?
But make no mistake: Although she doesn’t have a coparent, Kate has not closed the door on romance. She told The Daily Dish she had put her love life on pause after welcoming Sullivan and has simply been too busy to reenter the dating scene; however, she expects to get back into the game very soon.
“I actually don’t have any dating updates because my son’s only 2 and a half,” she said. “And it’s not that I’ve given up on dating; I just currently have priorities… I think it’s — I’m getting ready. I’m getting ready, but we’re almost there.”
