Big problems at the Money Pit. The resilient crew from The Curse of Oak Island have been trying to reach a certain depth in the garden shaft in search of the treasure. They finally achieved the desired depth, but then there was a huge problem. Just when things seemed to be going well, they hit a possible flood tunnel. Rick, Marty, and the team may finally be on the verge of locating the main flood tunnel, which was constructed more than two centuries ago. in order to protect something believed to be of great value [music] buried in the money pit.
>> This episode of Oak Island titled Wet and Wild delved into the challenges at the bottom of the garden shaft, [music] causing fans to have higher anticipation for the treasure and viewers to yearn for the treasure. Brick Leon and Scott Barlo arrived at the money pit to supervise a new probe drilling operation at the foot of the garden shaft, [music] which if unraveled might help solve a treasured mystery that has lasted over two centuries.
Three weeks ago, [music] after expanding the 18th century garden shaft to an approximate depth of 100 ft, the crew discovered all likely 17th century wood tunnel, causing a flush of ecstasy. A tunnel that a previous cone drilling operation traced westward into a what is known as Baby Blob, where water testing revealed significant levels of gold and silver between 80 and 120 ft below the Earth.
However, the crew learned something that surprised them. The stretch of tunnel they discovered between the garden shaft had been largely removed some time ago.
There were no walls and ceilings. The team was stunned to discover that the section of tunnel that they uncovered beneath the garden shaft had been partially dismantled sometime in the past. The representatives of Dumas Contracting Limited will conduct a probe drilling operation over the next few days now that the garden shaft has been extended to a total depth of 106 ft to look for sections of the tunnel that may still be intact and pinpoint the possible location of the fabled treasure. The probe drilling activity in the money pit region extended into the garden shaft which is more than 100 ft deep. All of a sudden, water began to rush into the structure when Dumas Contracting Limited officials were executing a horizontal probe drilling operation to examine the probable treasure tube beneath the garden shaft, which is more than 100 ft deep. The crew didn’t pay much attention to it at first. However, a preview showed the miners scrambling for safety as they struggled to get out of the deep shaft as the water came flooding in. It looked like a torrent. Unfortunately, this area could be one of the infamous and mysterious flood tunnels or Bobby traps installed by the original depositors.
These tunnels are rumored to be a security device that floods an area with seawater whenever treasure hunters get close to [music] a horde of loot. In other words, the flood tunnels are there to thwart the efforts of treasure seekers.
Rick suspected that when digging into a tunnel that connects to a region where the crew has discovered significant levels of valuable metals deep down, they may have burst one of the famous flood tunnels that have defied treasure hunters for over two centuries. This issue will be a massive headache for the guys and may serve as a setback for the project. It might stall operations for weeks or longer. However, if anyone can fix it, the experienced Duma miners can.
And if it is a flood tunnel, then that proves the guys are getting close. To show the seriousness of the matter, the synopsis in the History Channel episode reads, “The team has finely reached their target depth in the garden shaft, but their drilling efforts may be thwarted by a legendary flood tunnel.” Also, famous researcher John Edwards will be examining the area around Nolan’s cross in the hope of finding the remnants of a larger structure that he believes will point to the burial site of the Ark of the Covenant. On a preview, the guys found a boulder which could be [music] exactly the marker John was looking for. Billy Ghart is standing by with his digger to check it out with the help of Jack Begley.
Meanwhile, still in that disastrous episode, there’s silver linen as Rick Legina and historian Doug Craell will be examining an intriguing copper artifact, which Doug thinks may be of Viking origin. The artifact was found on Oak Island and is thought to be of Viking origin.
The Oak Island team have spent recent weeks working on a theory that the Templar, Knights, and the Vikings collaborated to hide a significant treasure on the island in the 13th century. Hopefully, the guys will be fleshing out this theory a bit more. It seems that of all the theorists concerning the treasure on Oak Island, the Templar theory stands out well. The garden shaft may indeed be posing water problems right now, but it is still one of the treasured parts of Oak Island and was the site of a groundbreaking discovery in season 10 Golden Discovery in the Garden Shaft.
It is no news that an intriguing treasure hunt unfolds in the heart of Oak Island as Brandon Vanderhold and his dedicated team embark on a probe drilling operation. And from this one, I detected gold.
>> Wow.
>> To confirm your theories, your >> gold.
>> Gold. Yeah.
>> Gold in the wood.
>> Yeah.
>> Gold.
>> Wow. That’s wild.
>> Wow.
>> Yeah.
>> In episode 16 of season 10, the team stepped out, [music] determined to find something during the operation, which was led by the capable hands of Dumas Contracting Limited. The excitement was palpable as they had already detected signs of gold through meticulous water testing, adding to the mystique that surrounds this enigmatic island. The operation kicked off with the team positioning themselves at [music] a depth of 55 ft in the garden shaft. In the early hours of the day, they were gearing up for what could very well be a gamecher for them. You could feel the anticipation and excitement in the air as Brandon, [music] Alex, and Rick exchanged greetings.
It was hard to miss the team’s enthusiasm, and it was clear that they believed this [music] day could bring them closer to a long sought-after treasure. The team had earlier found a void at a depth of 55 ft in the garden shaft, and this is one of the standout discoveries that have fueled their excitement. Located a few feet southwest of the garden shaft, this void has sparked fervent speculation.
The possibility that it could be the legendary treasure vault of the money pit was not ruled out by the crew. Marty Legina in particular expressed his eagerness, saying, “I’m hoping for something very substantial in the garden shaft. This is where the treasure hunt begins.” As the preparations for the probe drilling operation are set in motion, the team is focused on not just [music] discovering the void, but also delving deeper into the mysteries that Oak Island holds.
Dumas Contracting Limited, entrusted with the crucial task at hand, employs a formidable hydraulic earth drill designed to penetrate even the most [music] stubborn obstacles like hard clay, sediment, and rock. While the primary objective is to fill the intriguing void, the team has a more comprehensive plan in mind. Their strategy involves drilling a total of 12 holes, each taking a different direction on the four walls of the shaft. This meticulous approach aims to uncover any additional evidence of human activity [music] or potential treasures. It’s a meticulous endeavor, underscoring the team’s commitment to unearthing the secrets of Oak Island. But the operation doesn’t stop at drilling alone. In their quest for understanding, the team recognizes the importance of collecting soil samples and preserving small pieces of wood. Their belief is that wood can act as a sponge for gold, absorbing its precious particles. This hypothesis is grounded in the fact that their previous water samples have shown high gold values in the area. As the team gears up for the day’s work, Rick Lein expresses his particular interest in the wood and soil samples.
He knows that these samples could provide vital clues to the presence of gold in the vicinity. His dedication to the hunt is evident as he [music] takes on the responsibility of heading to the lab with these samples. The team’s trust in science as a vital component of their search becomes more apparent at this point. On the dawn of the following day, an unexpected crowd of onlookers gathered about them. The convergence of the crowd is a testament to the intrigue that surrounds the Oak Island treasure hunt.
Emma Culligan, an archaeologist who holds critical information to share, was also among the crowd. As an integral part of the team, Emma has been working diligently on the wood samples collected from the [music] garden shaft. With a level of precision that’s imperative in this treasure hunt, she performed a map scan of one small piece of wood, and the revelation turned out to be something that could make a person’s blood boil in anticipation.
Gold. The confirmation of gold in the wood sample is a momentous revelation, [music] an unequivocal sign that the treasure they seek might be closer than ever before. With her meticulous and accurate work, Emma is 100% sure of the presence of gold. The excitement in the room is palpable, [snorts] and everyone around the table can sense it. Though visibly thrilled by the discovery, Marty Legina inquires about the accuracy of the analysis, to which Emma responds confidently. The gold, it turns out, is adhered to the wood. The concentration may be just [music] 0.11%.
But it’s a significant find in the context of their quest.
As far as the team is concerned, this discovery is nothing short of a beacon of hope, illuminating the path towards their ultimate goal. Now that the possibility of treasure is so close that they could almost feel it, the team wanting to be sure, seeks to confirm this remarkable discovery through further cross-checking with water samples and additional tests.
Science plays an important role in their search for Oak Island treasure, and Emma’s remarkable find is proof of that.
Rick Legina, the main leader of this team of fearless explorers, emphasizes the importance of science in their quest and points out how this analysis has injected fresh inspiration into their efforts. The smiles around the table are not just expressions of joy, but also signs of renewed determination.
This garden shaft offers them a unique opportunity. And the team realized that it’s one that they must approach with humility and intelligence. [music] It’s a moment to learn from past mistakes and seize the chance to unearth the treasures that have eluded them for so long. As the room erupts in applause for Emma’s remarkable [music] discovery, the team knows that they are on the cusp of something extraordinary.
Their journey to decode the [music] mysteries of Oak Island has taken a momentous step forward, and they eagerly await what the future will reveal. It is not for nothing that this area is one of the most important parts of Oak Island as it is the source of many significant discoveries.
Old structures in the garden shaft. The drilling team begins an operation in the fourth episode of the 11th season to create an 82 ft bore hole which was previously drilled and reported to have pieces of high metal materials in it at the eastern part of the garden shaft.
The pumped core was very soft and moist at a depth of 53 feet, indicating closeness to a structure, which may or may not be the tunnel.
The drilling team made a thrilling discovery about 95 ft into drilling borehole D5 in 27. They found a chunk of wood, which is unique because no wood has been found at such a close range to the ground surface during the drilling operation. It is usually found within 99 ft and lower. While finding the wood chunk is thrilling, it also begs the question, does this mean the structure on this side of the garden shaft is higher than the one westward? Do soil disturbances cause the higher height? Or perhaps the tunnel builders constructed it [music] to fit the soil accurately, regardless of not matching the measurements of the tunnel part that heads west. Reports claim that the recovered wood samples have evidence of precious metals that probably belong to a different tunnel. Steve, to back up the theory, claimed the wood type was spruce, indicating that there might be a different structure. Also, the hardness and state of the wood indicate that it might have been used at the top of an offset chamber. [music] Sadly, due to the scheduled work of the Dumas crew, the next search was rushed and the team had to wait until their operation was over before any sort of research or [music] exploration could be conducted around the garden shaft. The drilling team rushes through the operation to meet the limited time while working hard to make a groundbreaking discovery. The team drills into [music] borehole C5N27.
Having found nothing, even after drilling at 93 feet, the team finally began showing signs of resignation.
But just then, suddenly, the team hit a void and the rods dropped to 104 ft, indicating some soil disturbance. But that was it. [music] There was no discovery.
When they got to 111 ft, much to the team’s delight, they found a [music] large piece of wood. The next core search contained pieces of softer and more scattered wood. When the pieces of wood were placed together, [music] the loose fragments matched and formed the other part of the wood chunk from 111. When the wood was observed, Terry discovered a pattern on it resembling irregular axe [music] cuts, dating the construction of the structure to before 1795.
The wood also has a hand hued stria similar to the hand hued beam found previously which indicates that the wood is really old as is the structure.
[music] Wood fibers were also found among the thick and muddy layers of debris and the core also had several pieces of [music] wood and chunks. From Terry’s point of view, the chunk of wood likely used to be the floor of the tunnel, but the wood might also be from the roof of the structure. And since the tunnel collapsed long ago, the wood might have been affected by soil activities, aging, and erosion. The major concern [music] is whether there is anything left in the tunnel. Could there be a tiny part that endured the change, or have all parts of the tunnel been lost? Because they had limited time in preparation for Dumas’s crew to arrive, [music] the team had no choice but to curiously wait before finding out what could have been discovered at a deeper range. Every operation in the garden shafts seems to edge the team closer to finding the long sought after treasure. Old chamber in the garden shaft. Different exploration and expedition teams have dug deep into the garden shaft for over 10 years, searching with no real results for a secret vault in the chamber believed to be housing Oak Island’s treasures. But all that might be on the verge of changing as the Lega team discovers an old chamber in the garden [music] shaft, but it remains to be seen whether they house long lost treasures. In episode 7 of season 11, the Dumas crew completes [music] their construction of the shoe, and they proceed to climb into it as an entryway to get underneath the [music] garden shaft. They have been looking forward to exploring the garden shaft since the team [music] started looking for the treasure, and being able to get into it makes all the hard work suddenly not seem like hard work. Rick, Marty, Lginina, and Roger Forton from the Dumas crew are showered with water that seems to be coming from the soil in the tunnel when they go 87 ft deep into the tunnel.
The water [music] seemed to be coming from the right wall of the tunnel at 60 ft and below, and something had to be done about it. To stop the leakage, Roger planned to make about nine gaping holes in the wall and spray urethane in them so that I [music] could stop the flow as it dries. As usual, the construction has brought the team closer to the tunnel that runs directly under the garden [music] shaft and towards the baby blob. The men were at a location that had never been explored by searchers, and their target was at arms length. [music] Aside from the never truly forgotten treasure, the team has just achieved another goal in the [music] construction of the horizontal shaft. The team also prepared reports on [music] the precious materials tested in the waters of the money pit area. A meeting was set up in the [music] war room with geocscientist Dr. Ian Spooner, chemist Dr. Mark Lukeman, and hydrogeeologist Dr. [music] Fred Michael. According to Dr. Lukeman’s fluorescent spectroscopy, testing was conducted [music] on the water for evidence of metal materials and non-metal materials in the water, such as wood, other organic materials, and pottery.
Among the bore [music] holes dug in the money pit area, L16 had a different result when tested. According to Ian, [music] the bore hole opens into a large void that is known to the team as Aladdin’s cave. The bar hole also has a very high quality of gold in the presence of organic materials, indicating that there is a wooden [music] structure, possibly a tunnel inside it. But at that depth, the chances of finding wood are slim. But they were [music] considering the possibility. To know more, they began drilling a new bore hole, KL14.5, to intercept L16 and reach the center of Aladdin’s cave.
Once at a reasonable depth, the tram will drop a definitive camera [music] into it to have imagery of what is going on down there. At 153, the road hit a void with a depth of 10 ft of open space and wood assumed to be the entrance to the tunnel. Using the Inuktune Spectrum 120 [music] highdefinition camera, the team journeyed deep below to investigate the hidden areas of the carvin. At 142, the camera was in the cave, and with only a few inches of adjustments, [music] a square headed bolt was seen at the top of layers of possible rocks [music] or a lump of sand. It is evident that the bolt was not naturally made, confirming human activities occurred in Aladdin’s cave. Dropping the [music] camera even further below, the full view came into sight, and it was a sidewall or some sort of collapsing boulder.
Why is there a bolt on the wall? Is it some sort of lock to open the real treasure chamber? The team agreed that a sonar examination would shed more details on what was discovered. The effort put into the garden shaft by the [music] Oak Island crew has never gone to waste as more significant discoveries surface.
Treasure found amidst the [music] spoils of the garden shaft. Amidst mud and debris, Gary discovered an ancient iron wench [music] that unveiled potential riches beneath Oak Island. But what secrets does this ancient iron wedge hold? And is it significant? After discovering precious [music] materials in the muddy debris collected from the garden shaft by the Dumash crew in episode 6 of the season, Gary’s statement, “Where there’s muck, there’s money,” was not so far-fetched [music] after all. Since the construction company couldn’t man so much at the same time and had been busy with the drilling [music] operation in the garden shaft, the team decided to improvise and the debris was [music] collected into a truck and dumped on neutral ground to be sorted out. With the metal detecting device, Gary and Chiles took charge of searching through the debris for any signs of highquality iron. Soon enough, there was constant [music] beeping, indicating that metal material had been found. Digging through the thick mud, Gary discovered a big chunk of flat surfaced thick iron he called a metal wedge. The artifact, in Charles’s opinion, looks similar to an axe handle on a wooden staff. If he is correct and the piece is indeed a broken piece of iron belonging to an axe or a hoe, then perhaps it was used to dig through the soil, tunnels, or structures. However accurate he is, the odds of making this discovery 80 ft deep below the ground are rare. There’s a high chance that the wedge was used by the original depositors of the treasure on Okaloid Island and goes way back to 1735.
The wedge was sealed and taken to the interpretive center for further analysis.
It should be noted that the focal point of the treasure hunt is not [music] particularly the garden shaft, but a spot fairly close to it, the mysterious money pit. Fans of the series titled The Curse of Oak Island have remained glued to their careers since the series was first launched in 2014.
Watching Rick and Marty Latina, the Michigan brothers, pursue one of the Western Hemisphere’s most intriguing and eyeopening mysteries, the treasure of Oak Island. The Lagginina brothers have been trying to uncover a hidden trove that is believed to have been buried more than two centuries ago on this small island off the coast of Nova Scotia, following in [music] the footsteps of past treasure seekers, including Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd president of the United States.
The said trove is a mouthwatering cash that is rumored to be very valuable, even though no one has an idea of what it is. It could be anything from pirate booty to the Holy Grail to even [music] the Ark of the Covenant.
Special attention is given to one spot out of all the spots on Oak Island where the brothers excavate. This spot is generally known as the money pit. Even from the name, one would realize that through the centuries, this spot has yielded tantalizing relics, a mysterious inscribed stone, as well as numerous obstacles. It is no wonder that it is the focal [music] point of the hunt.
Located on the east side of Oak Island, this spot is a shaft measuring more than 100 ft deep. According to island lore, the spot first drew the attention of a local teenager in the area in 1795 who noticed an indentation in the ground and [music] with some of his friends started to dig only to find a man-made shaft featuring wooden platforms every 10 ft down to the [music] 90 ft level of depth. There’s just one slight problem, and that’s the fact that the exact location of the original [music] shaft has been obscured after a haphazard expedition in the 1960s caused clay, seawater, mud, and other detritis to collapse into multiple holes dug around the original money pit. The Lena brothers merely excavate in spots that they hope are at least near the original pit along with other locations around the island. Rick and Marty, just like other treasure hunters and oldtimers who had traversed the terrain before them, have found their efforts truncated by apparent booby traps. The traps [music] are tunnels dug into the ground at various depths. They’re designed in such a way as to flood the shaft with water and prevent seekers from digging any further.
In other words, the traps are the flood tunnels which are currently creating a huge headache for the team. The Oak Island [music] Encyclopedia, for example, has it that a 500 ft long tunnel from nearby Smith’s Cove ensures that as soon as the water is pumped out of the hold, it fills back up again.
However, how these traps came to be is still a mystery yet unsolved. There have been speculations that the area said [music] to contain the sought after treasure, at least a trace of it, is not as simple [music] as it seems possible anomaly at the Money Pit.
The team led by Gary in their quest for Oak Island’s treasure employs cuttingedge technology to unveil hidden secrets. What lies beneath the yellow, blue, and red anomalies? Are multiple treasures waiting to be unearthed? Two years ago, Oak Island sought information on the money pit area and consulted Idion Technologies, which used the Muon method to give more accurate reports. 14 [music] sensory cameras were deployed into the bore holes at the money pit during the operation and it took over 2 years of constant observation [music] and monitoring of the data gathered. The cameras were placed at a depth [music] ranging from 80 to 250 ft. They are the perfect spots for the camera to glimpse whatever moved underground.
The cameras weren’t placed [music] there to detect just anything. Their primary targets were precisely tunnels that led directly into the money pit, vaults, underground voids, [music] and highdensity anomalies that might contain treasure or pieces of evidence pointing to where the treasure was. It was most important to have data on areas with high density anomalies and areas with traces [music] of precious metals. The mission of the Oak Island team demanded that much. Representatives from Ideon Technologies upgraded the recovered data into imagery and mapping to be more easily understood. There was a huge yellow background with bits of blue, green, orange, and red. The yellow represented neutral anomalies. The low density anomalies were marked with blue and the areas with higher density anomalies were marked with orange and red based on their strength. The areas of major interest are [music] those marked with orange and red colors because they indicate the presence of treasure or highquality precious metals.
It doesn’t mean the low density areas can be overlooked because they might [music] contain tunnels, carvings, vaults, and hidden chambers.
In episode [music] 5, 65 ft below the money pit area, a high anomaly area of [music] the garden shaft was discovered.
Directly underneath this is a low density anomaly located 112 ft deep. The most important data discovered is a high density anomaly 85 ft deep in the garden shaft and 230 ft below the actual money pit. This result is a great opportunity because no search has ever explored the location of this impressive anomaly. And after Dumas’s operation, the Oak Island team will be the first to explore [music] an area with that much depth.
What this discovery indicates is that there is a high chance that the team needs to look better all along and their focus should be split towards [music] multiple treasures and not just one.
