The Curse of Oak Island: Brass Door Handle Found DEEP in Swamp (Season 10)
You got a better view out here?
Oh yeah, this is a great spot to watch. Perfect.
Alex Lagina, Steve Guptill, Gary Drayton, Jack Begley, and Billy Gerhart returned to the triangle-shaped swamp to continue searching for clues on the mysterious Stone Ram.
The swamp is complicated, like everything else, but now we have a ramp that goes through the paved area up to the path, and so we’re trying to get to the bottom of that.
The year is coming to a close, but we’ve got a few days left. We could have some breakthroughs.
We’re looking for the edge of the ramp.
Yeah, yeah, Gary and I were watching from over here, and we can clearly see the road continuing.
Yeah, but we’re not sure if we’ve reached the edge of the ramp.
It’d be great if we can find the edge.
Basically, where do you think the edge of it would be, Steve?
So we know it doesn’t exist on the west side. What we’re looking for is the extension on the east side.
We are in business. Just saying, hey, that was the last scoop that came out.
See if I moved it.
It’s still there. Yep, still there.
All right then, pull it on.
Come on, be something good.
That’s pretty big.
Oh, it’s a door handle.
While investigating the Stone Ramp in the triangle-shaped swamp, metal detection expert Gary Drayton has just made what could be a significant discovery.
What you got, guys?
Yeah, it looks like a brass door handle.
Interesting.
You know what? This could be off like a ship’s cabinet or a door on a ship.
Yeah, who knows?
A possible handle, and potentially from a large sailing vessel. If so, could it be related to the many other pieces of ships and cargo barrels that the team has found in the swamp over the past several years?
And perhaps offer more evidence that the Stone Ramp and the 800-year-old paved area were used to offload something of great value onto Oak Island.
One thing for sure, it’s an artifact, mate, and I’m gonna bag it.
Sweet find, Gary.
Good dig, your mate.
Okay, here we go.
See if we can find the other edge of the path.
I really like to find the edges of this ramp. Not only does it indicate more conclusively that it’s man-made, but it’s also going to help us figure out what the purpose was.
I think you might be hitting it there, the ramp maybe.
Yeah, you can hear him hit the side. They should go in there and poke around.
I agree.
Let’s see what we got.
Stone path still here.
I think there’s a good chance that the ramp continues here too. The only short way is to clean it off more carefully at this point.
So we’ll just work our way this way.
Okay, and honestly, maybe it’s best to start over here.
And look for the edge, and we’re on to this edge already, right foot?
Yeah, okay, and I’ll work around in here.
Thank you.
There’s rocks, as you can see.
All right, here, yeah, where you’re digging.
Oh, that there, that’s where everything stops, right there.
Oh, oh yeah, and then it just… it stops. Just look, there’s a look in here, nothing.
Nothing.
Down to this subsoil level, it’s the sea horizon.
Yeah, I’m pretty comfortable with seeing the edges right here.
As we’re scraping away dirt, we can see an area where you’ve got dark soil, and right next to it, you’ve got the sea horizon, which is untouched by humans.
So it looks like it could be the edges of this ramp. So we’re probably there, but, oh, great. This is actually wonderful news.
Yes, it is. We found the edge of the ramp.
From my vantage point, we found the edge of the paved area out there. This lines up with the end of the paved area.
I mean, it ties the ramp to the path, and we’re pretty sure we have the ramp tied to the paved area.
So now we have the paved area tied to a road, right?
Yeah, I believe there are four large man-made constructs either associated with the swamp or in the body of the swamp proper.
They took a lot of work, a lot of effort. We don’t quite yet know their purpose, but human beings made those structures.
Foreign.
Foreign.
Foreign.
Foreign.
