‘The Curse of Oak Island,’ Did Team Make Biblical Discovery?
Fans have tuned into The Curse of Oak Island for years as the team searches for treasure. Occasionally, the series has showcased all sorts of surprising finds. However, a preview has some fans wondering if the team made a recent discovery of Biblical proportions.
The Search For Treasure Continues On The Curse of Oak Island
On The Curse of Oak Island, fans have seen the Lagina brothers, Rick and Marty, led a team as they search for treasure on the titular island. The area has long been the subject of urban legends claiming it contains hidden treasures and historical artifacts.
The series premiered its 12th season this past November. However, a preview for the season’s 14th episode, set to air on March 4, has fans wondering about a recent find.
According to IMDB, the upcoming episode, “Sinking In,” has the following description: “As the team moves closer to retrieving what they believe to be the Chappell Vault, a dangerous event occurs in the Money Pit.” It was also noted, “The Fellowship must adjust their plans quickly to avoid disaster.”
As noted by Monsters & Critics, the episode starts off from the previous week’s, in which the team staged a large-scale excavation in the hopes of “targeting the legendary Chappell Vault.” At the time, the team used massive steel caissons to help stabilize the area.
The team was able to find metal fragments that appeared to be ancient. This gave the team hope they were close to making a bigger discovery.
Notably, the team found a wooden beam that appeared to feature the Roman numeral “III.” Seeing it, Doug Crowell noted, “We got wood.”
Roman Numerals Have Been Seen Before On The Show
Alex Lagina also added, “That’s a lot of wood.” He also noted, “It’s the oldest looking wood we have found.”
As the publication noted, the Roman numerals aren’t unusual for Oak Island. In earlier seasons, Roman numerals could also be seen at a formation found at Smith’s Cove.
Over the years, fans have debated the origins of these markings. Some have even tied it to claims of biblical treasures in the area. References to historical tests could also suggest items of pious importance could be transported to the area.
In the preview, the team could be seen analyzing historical maps, looking at the island’s physical features. One map in particular showcased a feature resembling another structure near the swamp’s northern end, highlighting a connection.
One team member says as such, noting, “The feature on the map is outlined exactly like the stone feature found at the north end of the swamp.” Jack Begley also similarly noted, “This is big.”
The current season is notably coming to an end, with there only being three episodes left for the team to find treasure this season. The season finale, “Open Sesame,” is expected to air on March 18, 2025.
