Hello everybody. Video here for you today. This is the no cap recap of The Curse of Oak Island season 13 episode 15 called Swamped. Originally aired February 24th, 2026. If you missed any of my recaps, previous episodes, there’s a link to my Oak Island playlist in the upper right. Let’s get into it.
you previously on the curse of Oak Island. People have been looking for an incredible treasure for at least 231 years.
The money pit area is filled with equipment as the team prepares to launch the major digs for the year.
Having confirmed that high traces of silver are in the water deeper than 200 ft down into the solution channel at bore holes I 9.5 and K9.5. The operation will start there.
The team previously sunk a case on there in 2019, but as with so many digs in the money pit area, it was stopped higher.
This one at 150 ft.
The hope is that the high traces of silver, plus other alloy metals that are in the coin, reportedly found by the Truro Company in 1849, means that many more coins are waiting below. The coin is from the 1300s and is related to the Portuguese sect of the Knights Templar called the Knights of Christ.
Changing up equipment used this year, an augur will be put inside the quesons to do the digging.
Once at target depth, a recovery bucket will replace the augur to bring up anything that is there.
The rest of this day will be spent preparing. The digging starts the next day.
Rick, Craig, Gary, and Tom are in the northern portion of the swamp on Tom’s property at this location. Continuing to trace the cobblestone path that is lined by eight-sided survey stakes.
While metal detecting the spoils pile, Gary spots this leather heel.
And Rick finds another piece. A previously found boot near the stone road to the south was dated to the 1600s.
Next, the excavator bucket doesn’t dig as much as it just falls through a void here that appears to be 5 ft high.
Spoils from the area include this wooden stake.
It’s online with other stakes found this season.
On lot eight, the crane operator and members of the team plan the lifting of the huge boulder chain will be used.
Billy will oversee his employees during tree removal and building a road to the boulder for the crane.
The next day finds most of the entire team at the money pit as Rick, Marty, and Craig arrive.
Since the day is about finding treasure, Rick picks Gary and Katcha Drayton to begin the dig since they are both emblematic of finding things. In their honor, Marty names the hole top pocket finds or TPF for short.
Gary often puts the most valuable or important finds in his top pocket.
Gary lowers the augur and Katcha begins drilling of the hole.
In the lab, Couchet tells blacksmithing expert Carmen Leg that she found this tool several weeks ago on lot 8 south of the huge boulder near where a length of 1500’s chain was found. He says it’s not a knife handle as some team members thought, but is part of some mechanism to provide a ratcheting function.
Narrator Robert Clworthy wonders if it could be related to the chain andor huge bowler. Emma says the metallergy is a really clean iron and is European. She says 1700s, but also that it could be older.
Rick, Tom, Al, and Katchcha continue work in the northern bog. Tom finds these planks in the spoils.
Rick finds that they fit together and says that you could build a chest out of that. One of the planks has a nail in it, but they can’t tell if it’s square, which would mean it’s older. Rick later says the board is 12 plus in wide and is more than 1 in thick, which are not modern dimensions.
Katchcha gets a metal detector it and says she thinks it’s a key.
She says she’s looking forward to seeing the CT scan of it that will distinguish between the item itself and rust in the money pit area. The queson is not advancing. Gary later suggests that it could be a boulder or some other type of obstruction. Peter sends his uncles a text to alert them. Apparently, the back fill used previously is packed really tightly and is causing the issue.
The plan is to pull the queson up a bit, then if necessary, use the oscillator to grind it into place deeper. The oscillator has been their way of putting in quesons for many years, but they changed methodology this year. Someone was incredibly smart to have the oscillator on site already. Perhaps Vanessa, the CEO of Rock Equipment that has provided it previously. A truck carrying adapter parts broke down, so rather than wait two days for those, Marty and Craig have opted to switch to another target and return to the first one later. The obstructed hole is TPF1, and the graphic accompanying the narration shows these other two yellow circles, but there is no other information given about them.
In the war room, members of the team have gathered for the carbon dating on the shoe or boot leather found in the swamp. The highest probability is 1148 to 1216.
The lower probabilities are even older going back to 1047 A.
Marty says that’s the Gaspani era, referring to Italian archoastronomy professor Adriano Gaspani and his findings that the Nolan’s cross boulders line up with these stars in the early 1200s. So that’s when it would have been built.
Steve reminds us that the 1200s is also the carbon dating result of the paved area in the swamp found in 2019.
1200s also represent the height of the Knights Templar before they were disbanded and persecuted by the Pope and the King of France in 1307.
The Carbon Dating Company is going to clean the samples and redo the testing to confirm the results, which I don’t recall ever happening on the show previously.
Hardy says the data is a reason to dig, which he never argues with. So, more swamp digging is in order.
Next time on an allnew The Curse of Oak Island episode airing March 3rd, 2026, season 13, episode 16 called Raising the Stakes. Excitement abounds as the team is poised to raise the massive boulder on lot 8. And in the swamp, a shocking artifact is discovered that suggests a connection to the American Revolution.
And on March 10th, 2026, season 13, episode 17 called The Missing Links.
Armed with new information about the elusive stakes in the swamp, the team redoubles their search efforts with thrilling results.
Recaps of all of the aired shows from every season are in my Oak Island playlist. I will be recapping new episodes as they air from now through May 2026. That playlist is linked at the end of this video on the screen now or very soon. I’ll also be hopefully putting out retro recaps of Secret of Skinwalker Ranch seasons 2 through 4, seasons 1, five, six, and the first five episodes of season 2 are already done and are in that Skinwalker Ranch playlist. Thanks so much for watching.
