Top Pocket Knife from Lot 10 (Season 12) *Exclusive* | The Curse of Oak Island
Top Pocket Knife from Lot 10 (Season 12) *Exclusive* | The Curse of Oak Island
We found a pocket knife near the
bottom boulder of Nolan’s Cross.
And that is really amazing
because when we further analyze
a personal item like this,
it might have markings
that could help reveal
who might have
buried the treasure
on Oak Island long ago.

Well, mate.
Here’s the first flag.
And I don’t have to tell you,
mate, how special Lot 10 is.
Because of the Nolan’s Cross
boulders.
Oh, yeah, that’s the bottom
of the cross right there.
GARY:
Yeah, exactly.
I remember digging
around that boulder with Marty,
and we found
a lot of oxshoe nails,
which seemed insignificant
at the time,
but if these boulders were
moved and put in place…
-JACK: By ox.
-GARY: Exactly.
So we should find
some artifacts.
JACK:
It’s really exciting
to be getting in Lot 10 today.
We’re not that far away
from Nolan’s Cross,
the very bottom of it.
I always love getting
the opportunity
to do some detecting
on Nolan property.
‘Cause Gary doesn’t always
get the chance
to come around this area,
and it’s near where we found
some important artifacts
in the past, so,
hopefully as we continue,
we’re able to find
some older artifacts
that directly tie with who put
these big boulders in place.
All right, mate,
let’s see what this flag is.
You ready to dig
some good stuff up?
Let’s find some treasure, Gary.
(intermittent beeping)
Sounds like it could
possibly be iron,
and it’s
in that area there, mate.
That’s a lot
of sensitivity to find it.
(beeping)
(pinpointer beeping)
JACK:
Is it deeper?
Oh, yeah, it is.
-JACK: Right there.
-It’s there,
it’s right on that side there.
All right,
I’m sure you’re deep enough.
That looks like the sea horizon
right there.
Yeah.
Yeah. It’s probably out.
(beeps)
Let’s see if we got it out.
(beeping)
-JACK: Oh…
-GARY: Mm.
The heck… is that?
Is that a pocketknife? No.
I’m not sure
what that is, actually.
You know what it does look like?
It would be a flip pocketknife.
Yeah, it looks like
it’s a folding pocketknife.
These two are rivets,
so it would have been
the handle on top,
-and I think…
-That’s still
part of the handle.
Yeah, that’s still
part of the handle.
Now, this is important
because when you can get
a piece of the handle,
um, it doesn’t look like wood.
The older pocketknives–
and pocketknives go way back–
the older pocketknives had bone
or antler handles.
Oh, so, because it’s not wood,
-you think it might be older?
-Yeah.
Yeah, it could be older.
Because these pocketknives go
all the way back to Roman days.
Oh, wow.
So you never know, mate.
This might be
really, really old.
Especially ’cause
it came from so deep.
-It was…
-Yeah.
…you know, right before we hit
the sea horizon.
Yep, you got that right, mate.
The deeper an artifact is,
normally the older it is.
And I love this.
This is like a twofer find.
We got iron and we’ve got
that material there,
whatever that is.
-Yeah.
-And you know what?
It might even not be
a pocketknife,
it might be some kind
of knife handle.
If this isn’t a pocketknife,
this is the knife handle.
Well, what’s your best guess
for date on that?
Um, I would say,
looking like this…
it might even be
in the 1700s or older.
-Oh, really?
-Yeah.
There’s just something
about it that’s nice.
I love the,
the handle covering there.
-It’s a beautiful thing,
for sure.
-Mm-hmm.
This is going to look
really, really good
underneath the CT scanner.
-JACK: Yeah.
-GARY: When Emma runs
the scans on this,
it’ll bring out the beauty of it
all up on the big screen.
And we can see
straight through the corrosion.
-See if it’s a knife or not.
-Exactly.
Beautiful find, mate,
and good digging.
-Yeah, great start.
-Yup, all right, mate.
I’ll put it in the bag.
Really, really nice find, mate.
JACK:
Yeah.
