Captain Jason Chambers Reveals a Dating Life Update: "To Be Quite Honest..." (EXCLUSIVE)
Captain Jason Chambers is single and maybe looking to mingle. The Below Deck Down Under captain shares his 11-year-old daughter, Saskia, with his ex, and recently admitted that dating is hard when raising a pre-teen and spending most of his time on a yacht.
Jason opened up about this during the Feb. 1 interview with The Daily Dish when he revealed more about his personal life today and how he’s flipping to a new chapter in 2026. “I have really put it out there… There hasn’t been a moment, to be quite honest, and I still kind of find it funny and hard when there is a moment,” he explained.
He continued, admitting that dating is hard while working in yachting, especially when you’re trying to date someone outside of it. Jason confirmed he had met Saskia’s mom while he was working in yachting, and so he knows the obstacles. “Yachtings a tough one,” he noted to The Daily Dish. “I think if the course certification, first paragraph, said ‘Once you get certified as a captain, you’ll never be home again, so say goodbye to your family,’ I don’t think anyone would become a captain. You’re at sea [for] a long time. It’s great when you’re young.”
He added “Below Deck’s given me a great opportunity to shift my career,” so that he can find time to focus on his personal life.
Captain Jason opens up about being a single dad to his daughter
During a Nov. 2025 appearance on Habits and Hustle, Jason shared that he had met Saskia’s mom while he was working as a captain and she was working on another yacht as a chef. And when speaking to The Daily Dish this month, Jason opened up more about watching their kid grow up.
“I know that my daughter’s at that age where she’s starting to understand…You know, she doesn’t whine when I’m away, she prefers to go into shops by herself,” he added, noting that she’s gone from “an island girl” to her own person.
Captain Jason Chambers reveals where he stands with his ex-partner
In the past, Jason has been candid about where he stands with his daughter’s mom. Jason revealed that he is on very good terms with Saskia’s mother, who lived in the Philippines prior to moving to Bali. “Saskia’s mother is fantastic,” he explained on Below Deck Down Under Season 2, Episode 1, which aired in 2023. “We run a business together, we co-parent, and I’ve learned a lot by watching her.”
Captain Jason Chambers sheds more light on his dating life
Jason elaborated on the difficulties of dating as a yachtie during a panel at BravoCon 2025. “It’s very difficult when you’re at sea for so long,” he admitted, as seen in the video above. “I’m sure other captains and crew know that as a captain, you’re never off the boat. Whether you’re actually going on holidays, you’re still in contact with emails and everything, the whole structure. So, you’re always attached to the boat. So, I think that’s probably why I gave up yachting for two years to be with my daughter, because I didn’t see her for two years, otherwise I’d never see her.”
When speaking to The Daily Dish in February 2025, he shed more light on his dating life. “I don’t think the time has ever been right,” he explained at the time. “I needed to give a lot of time to my daughter over the last few years. The relationships I have had have been long, and they probably shouldn’t have lasted that long.”
“I’m starting to realize why I’ve gone into those relationships,” he added. “I’m probably trying to create something, but not be 100 percent myself. So, I have put a pause on dating for quite some time because I haven’t had the time to bring someone else into my daughter’s [life].”
Captain Jason Chambers reflects on being married in the past
When he appeared on the Habits & Hustle podcast, Jason reflected on the fact that he got married for the first time when he was 20 years old. “So I married my high school girlfriend,” he explained. “Then at 25, who we’re still in touch now, I was like, ‘Well, what are we doing?'”

What does Captain Jason Chambers look for in a partner?
Captain Jason told The Daily Dish this month that there are just a few qualities that he looks for in a future partner. “I love to explore, I love to be adventurous,” he said. “I like to meet people. I like to just be normal, you know? I like to spend my time in the Philippines or in Indonesia. I like to get out and about. I like to meet local people and engage.”
“I don’t need much. I’m a minimalist,” he added. “I just need someone that can be active, loves the water, loves exploring and loves meeting people and loves a good laugh.”
