Jenna Reveals the Unseen Reason She Lost Interest in Eddy on Below Deck Down Under: “Huge Deal”

Stew Jenna Woudberg and deckhand Eddy Hounsell took their budding boatmance to the next level with a date during Below Deck Down Under Season 4, Episode 12—but Jenna has since revealed the real reason that she wasn’t interested in pursuing Eddy any further.

“Eddy mentions he doesn’t want kids, and that’s a huge deal for me,” Jenna shared during the Below Deck Down Under After Show of an unseen moment during the April 20 episode. “So, I automatically disconnect and switch off, because as a woman, this is my end goal in life—to have a family and to have the kids.”

She continued, “It’s a non-negotiable for me. So, I think that’s when I started realizing, ‘Okay, Eddy’s not the one.’”

Eddy shed more light on his feelings about the matter as well, noting that it all stems from his own experience as one of six children. “I’ve got five siblings who are all going to have loads of kids,” he shared during the After Show. “So in my head, I’ve never liked the idea of having kids. I’ve always just thought of being Plan B: fun uncle.”

In case you need a refresher, Eddy and Jenna have had an on-and-off flirtation for several charters. Despite a complication of stew Alesia Harris also flirting with Eddy and sending him late-night texts, by the April 20 episode, Eddy decided he was ready to ask Jenna out on a date.

“For me, I don’t like to date for the sake of just f–king around dating,” he shared during the After Show. “Especially now being older… I’m wanting to date to marry.”

What to Know About Below Deck Down Under Season 4
All aboard! Below Deck Down Under Season 4 has left the dock, with new episodes airing Mondays at 8/7c on Bravo and streaming the next day on Peacock.

Captain Jason Chambers is back at the helm, along with some very familiar faces from around the Below Deck universe, including Ben Robinson, Daisy Kelliher, and João Franco. They will be joined by Alesia Harris, Joe Caron, Jenna Woudberg, Mike Durrant, Eddy Hounsell, and Betul Yazici.

The crew finds itself on rocky waters, as the season kicks off with a historic crossover charter featuring The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 6 cast aboard M/Y Katina. As the yachties continue to set sail through Canouan in the Caribbean, they face crew drama, steamy hookups, and charter guest issues.

In fact, asking Jenna out on a date signified a major milestone for him. “I only just this year decided to start getting back into dating after three years,” he confessed to producers during the episode. “It’s scary. My problem is I’m a loverboy.”

Still, Eddy admitted he has a history of getting ahead of himself when it comes to romance. “I just wear my heart on my sleeve. [In] my last relationship, I think I saw into a lot deeper than she did. And I just kinda ended up getting hurt from it. Fingers crossed that doesn’t happen again now,” he mused to producers during the April 20 episode.

But that didn’t stop him from telling Jenna on a crew night out, “My stupid little pea brain sits there and goes, ‘What would it be like if I married Jenna?’” to which Jenna responded, “I don’t want to take it too fast. So, we’ll see where this goes.”

Jenna Woudberg reveals why she and Eddy Hounsell don’t “align” romantically
To explain why, ultimately, she and Eddy don’t mesh well as a couple, Jenna borrowed a line from an earlier Season 4 charter guest, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’s Lisa Barlow.

“Eddy’s still a good guy, but our lives will just not align outside the boat,” Jenna said during the After Show. “I’m gonna be a Lisa Barlow: ‘I live a very different life than you.’ I quote her because I do live a very different life [from] Eddy.”

Although she did enjoy the date and called him a “sweet guy” and a “gentleman,” she added, “Eddy is full of life, and he loves adventure, and he can take a backpack wherever he goes. For me, I take two 23kg bags, you know what I mean? Our lives just wouldn’t align.”

Jenna, who had also shown interest in head chef Ben Robinson during the charter season, weighed the options with show producers.

“If I have to choose between Ben and Eddy, and the lifestyle I wish for my future to look like…with Ben it’s like, he’s more refined, and likes the finer things in life, and I don’t have to feel guilty for that,” she said in a Below Deck Down Under confessional. “But then again, my previous boyfriend was just like him. I have nothing to show for it. Eddy is the safe bet.”

However, when Ben asked Jenna how she and Eddy were doing during the episode, she replied, “It’s definitely not a person I would normally be with.”

Ben, who’d already admitted during Episode 7 to having “chemistry” with Jenna, joked back, “Anytime you want to come to the master cabin…”

Jenna ended up taking Ben up on his offer, and cameras captured the sounds of the two kissing behind a cabin door at the cliffhanger end of the April 20 episode.
